I have been noticing a lot of butterflies these days. They are beautiful, but I can't tell them apart. They remind me of the quote from St. Exupery’s classic text, The Little Prince, which states: “It’s the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important.” Roses, like butterflies, often look very much alike, but caring about a particular rose or butterfly makes it valuable and meaningful to you.

Unlike butterflies and roses, the uniqueness and individuality of people is more obvious. And yet, too often we see people as a group, lumped together in our minds, and we don't care much more about that group than we do about a group of butterflies. When we have a relationship with someone, the individuality comes into focus, and we can see what makes them special and unique.

Question: What is it about you that your friends and family find unique and lovable? What do you find unique about your loved ones?

Everyone is unique

I've been thinking about this... I don't know how to say what people think is unique about me, because honestly I don't know. I suppose you'd have to ask them...

As to what I think is unique about the people I love... well, that would books worth of information. But which comes first, the love or the uniqueness? Everyone has things about them that are unique and special, but I guess we don't notice it as much when we don't love someone.

Uniqueness

Like most people I find it hard to talk about myself! It is easier to talk about family and friends. They are all like little jewels to me - each one shines in their own way, and I'm grateful for every one of them. Sometimes I think we forget how precious they all are - life is always hectic and there never seems to be TIME to communicate . So, we all need to put forth a special effort to do that! Because of my work schedule I email alot, but , I still communicate. I actually write "letters" once in awhile! How old fashion of me! ha ha But, whatever your way is , never forget your family and friends. That one little "hello" you put forth could make someones day.
